Request dashcam footage of an event when a dashcam event wasn't triggered

When a driving event occurs that doesn't trigger a dashcam event, you can still request video by reaching out to BIT Support.

BIT Dashcam events are triggered by a rapid change in wheel speed, so sometimes events will occur that don't trigger the automatic event alert. Examples would be a collision while the vehicle is parked, or perhaps a side swipe that the driver recovered from quickly and didn't take their foot off the gas.

These events are still recorded by the dashcam, but there won't be an email alert or event listed on the web portal activity feed. You can download the video through the BIT app by following the steps in our other article Retrieving Dashcam Video in the Blue Ink Tech app.

You can also reach out to the BIT Support team. We can remotely request video uploads from the dashcam to get the same low-resolution videos. We can also prompt the dashcam to create a high-resolution event video once we have the exact timestamp of the event.

What you need when you call support

  • A basic description of the event that we can recognize in the video (ex: brake check, backed into in parking lot)
  • The name of the vehicle involved in the event
  • A 10-minute to 30-minute window for when the event occurred, either in local time or your carrier's home terminal time.
  • The location of the event can also help us narrow down the event time with the vehicle route map.

Call us at 304-381-1512 and pick option 2 for support.
