What are the file size, resolution, and capacity specs for the BIT Dashcam?
SD Card Size
The BIT Dashcam ships with a 256 GB SD card already installed, which is far larger than what other providers offer with their base unit.
Video File Specs
Files are saved to the SD card in 3 minute segments.
The BIT Dashcam captures HD 1920 x 1080 video at 25 frames-per-second from its main camera. These 3 minutes files are approximately 175 MB in size each.
The BIT Dashcam captures 1280 x 720 video at 12.5 frames-per-second from its optional, secondary camera. These 3 minute files are approximately 133 MB in size each.
Video Capacity
The BIT Dashcam tries to reserve 90% of the SD card for capturing video. This will be reduced if the memory is being used for logs or event videos.
The oldest video files will be deleted to make room for the newest video files being created.
If you're using both cameras, then the 256 GB SD card will be able to keep at most about 35 hours of video on the BIT Dashcam.
If you're only using the primary camera and leave the optional, secondary camera unplugged, then the 256 GB SD card will be able to keep at most about 62 hours of video on the BIT Dashcam.
If you need the video recorded by the BIT Dashcam, act quick to retrieve the files before they are overwritten!
